Date: 2004-11-29 05:43 am (UTC)Defining beauty.. that's as tough as catching smoke. Quick answer? Beauty is anything that makes me smile... art, a child's smile, a line from a song, the grain in wood, a manicured lawn, the curve of a satin corset, the grace and underlying muscles and tendons of a foot, friendship, a perfect meal, a clean car, ...
What do you love about your favorite poet's work? I don't have one favorite poet. As chaotic as my life is, I tend to go for the metered poems. I was in someone's home the other day and was touring the house. One of the bedrooms had twin beds and on each bed was an embroidered pillow with familiar lines from a poem stitched into them. They were from Annabelle Lee by Poe. I loved that poem in high school. Other than that, I think I'm drawn to poetry that speaks for my unworded thoughts, no matter the poet.
Do you enjoy experiencing safe fear? Yes. I don't usually live on the edge so my occassional forays to the edge with safety net are my escapes.

1. Have you ever lived alone as an adult, as a single person?
2. What brings you to complete calm and rest?
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose and with whom?

Good question. I have a hard time quieting my inner voices. In the morning when I first wake up would be the time when I have achieved complete calm and rest. But that's a little involuntary, isn't it? I like yoga. It is relaxing moving muscles I don't normally move. And I'm aware of my breathing then moreso than any other time. But I guess the sure-fire anxiety reducer is listening to music.
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose and with whom?
Home is where the heart is, right? As a girl who lives in the house she grew up in, I'm having to redefine what home is as I look at selling and moving elsewhere. I'd love to live briefly in a wide variety of big cities from NYC to Washington DC, but I think I'd like to stay on the east coast. I don't think I'd stay in a big city though.. my heart cannot take the traffic and sheer amount of people. And with whom? Someone I can count on, someone I consider a friend, someone who understands me and whom I understand right back.
