Had a good day yesterday.. got a decent amount of things done before it was time to come home, shower, and get ready for the trip to Raleigh. Original plans had us leaving early to do some shopping, but when I thought about it more, I really didn't need to do any shopping.

We got there in time for a nice, liesurely dinner. I had perused the net, looking for a new restaurant, but when I asked Lee where he wanted to go, it was a definitive "Melting Pot."

I like this place. We were introduced to it several years ago by friends and when I tried to pass along the favor by introducing it to Mandy and Amanda, they could barely keep their cheese fondue and salads down when they brought out the plate of raw meat. Their appetites completely disappeared. Anyway, my favorite parts are the begining and end... the cheese fondues are to die for, as is the walnut and rasberry vinaigrette salad dressing on the California Salad. And usually, we end the meal with a chocolate fondue. Frankly, I could skip the entree too, but not out of disgust from the raw meat... I'm just so full from the cheese, salad and dessert.

After dinner, we still had about 30 minutes before it was time to get to the auditiorium so we headed over to Borders to browse. Lee has picked up a new addiction- chess. He started playing when he was little, but after we went down to SC to see my nephew and he was interested in chess, Lee has started playing it on the computer. Now, every time we're at a bookstore, he plants himself in front of the chess section and stays. (Guess it's better than internet porn)

Anyway, we finally leave and drive over to Memorial. And there was free parking! A very nice surprise. The doors have not opened yet and it's already 7:15. I stand in line for the restroom and when I come out, they're blinking the lights to go in. It was a full 30 minutes later when the opening act came out on stage. He was very good... ala John Mayer/Dave Matthews. Funny, too. When he was done, there was another 15-20 minute intermission before Norah started. (Original plans had us teaming up with some more couples from town... one of the couples.. and a very dear friend is NOTORIOUSLY late. We kept joking that Renee couldn't be late for this show.)

When she finally appeared, she was fantastic. I got lost in watching and listening to her. And she's every bit as beautiful as she is on television all dolled up for interviews and awards. The band was outstanding and the concert seemed to fly by. I always have a favorite song and wish deep down that the artist will do it live when I attend their concerts. For James Taylor, it's "Copperline." For her, it was "Seven Years" She didn't play it, but in a way, I'm glad. It's a sad little song and the longer I waited to hear it, the later it got in the program and to have ended with it would have been sad.

After the concert, we dawdled until the bulk of the crowd had left and I drove home. Lee slept in the passenger seat. Once home, I stilol could not sleep so I opened a new book and began to read. I don't think I turned my light off until after 2:30.

So now, I am very sleepy. But very happy to have been at the concert. :)
