Where were you on....

Stolen like a thief in the wee hours of the morning. Answering them makes me see that I really am a little too involved in my own world.
1.When John F. Kennedy was shot (November 22, 1963)
still a twinkle in my Daddy's eye (actually, leftover sperm, but that's ANOTHER story)
2. When Mt. St. Helens blew (May 18, 1980)
circa 5th grade-- the science geek I started out to be.... clipped everything about it in newspapers and magazines and put it in this huge scrapbook. Always wanted to go and see it afterward. Was in awe of it.
3. When the space shuttle Challenger exploded (January 28, 1986)
home sick from school and watching tv with my mom... shocked and horrified. Later, scared the shuttle program would be set back or scrubbed in light of the tragedy. (Remember, I wanted to be a ballerina OR an astronaut)
4. When the 7.1 earthquake hit San Francisco (October 17, 1989)
Pledging a sorority in college and not really aware of the devastation and destruction... more concerned about boys and parties.
5. When the Berlin Wall fell (November 7, 1989)
At a party celebrating the efforts of a group I was in who had recently hosted a national conference. Watched it on the tv in the bar area of the club.
6. When the Gulf War began (January 16, 1991)
In college still, partying. Remember being amazed that it was a war in my generation affecting my generation. I remember going downtown and dancing to "It's the End of the World as We Know It" by REM
7. When the first World Trade Center bombing happened (February 26, 1993)
Wasn't really a blip on my radar for some reason. I remember the subsequent trials more than the actual event.
8. When OJ Simpson was chased in his White Bronco (June 17, 1994)
Reduced to the working girl and sitting at home on a Friday night. Pissed because the chase pre-empted something on TV. (And already knowing he was guilty)
9. When the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was bombed (April 19, 1995)
at home for some reason.. again shocked
10. When Princess Di was killed (August 31, 1997)
Saddened. I'm a closet fan of the royal la-te-da and loved seeing her triumph over the staid stuffyness of the institution. And she was just so damn beautiful and graceful. I was at Amanda's house in Rennert and it's the land of no cable TV. I wanted to know as much as I could and the networks stopped their reports sometime in the wee hours of the morning. I really missed not having the news channels that broadcast 24 hours.
11. When Bush was first announced President (November 7, 2000)
Nauseated.
12. When the 6.8 earthquake hit Nisqually, WA (February 28, 2001)
huh?
13. When terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center (September 11, 2001)
In a hospital waiting room waiting for my mother in law to come out of knee replacement surgery. I was not near the TV but I heard Peter Jennings' voice and thought it was odd to hear him so early in the day. I got up and went around to the TV and started watching. Disbelief was probably the best word for it. And then later in the day, fear.
14. When Columbia disintegrated during re-entry over Texas. (February 1, 2003)
Lee woke me up.. I had slept in. It was odd, being tossed back to the feelings of the Challenger explosion.
