On hypochondria

My brother calls me a hypochondriac. I'm not sure why.

I used to get sick a lot. What's my definition of a lot? Oh, maybe once every other month, year-round.

I can pinpoint the last cold I had. It was back in early May. So it stands to reason the supplemental vitamins I've been taking with this diet have really helped ward off any colds. One can also point to the fact that since I'm not in the workplace, I also am up against fewer germs. Potato/Potahto. I'm not sick and that's what counts.

I've never received a flu shot and the hypochondriac in me kinda freaked when this year, I heard they would not have as many shots to give. I worried that I needed one all of the sudden. I scanned the papers for clinics where anyone was eligible.. not just the elderly, health care workers, and the pregnant. Maybe there's something to this hypochondria thing Le says I have.

Back over the wedding weekend, I really started feeling bad. My throat hurt and my neck was getting sore. By the time I got to New York, I was hitting the corner delis for OJ and this new juice brand that markets themselves as antioxidants. The hypochondriac was in heaven. (God, I love a corner deli... hands down- THE best thing about New York.)

I seemed to have curtailed any colds. How long can my luck and immune system hold out?

Enjoy each cold-less day you have and don't stop taking your vitamins...~S~

Is FluMist an option for you?

At least in this area, they have plenty of the FluMist vaccine. It confers the same immunity as the shot, but through a nasal spray rather than a shot. Because it can only be given to people between 5 and 49 years old who are in reasonably good health, you wouldn't be taking shots away from those who really needed them. (In fact, your being immune to the flu might help those people, because they'd have one less person they could get it from.)
