Dropping back and punting

I had my weekend plans all set.

My brother and sister-in-law had invited me to spend the weekend at her mother's mountain house. It would be a haul (4 hours if traffic was light), but it would give me a chance to visit that little shack I've dreamed about escpaing to near the cascades above their house. I wasn't looking forward to the trip through the more traffic-ridden metropolitan areas of our state, but it was another chance to see my nephew.

I was also excited about escaping the recent humidity that has set into Eastern NC.

Lee called this morning. His boss has scheduled him to work Saturday, with no heads up.

Our original plans last week included Jane going with us. My brother loves Jane and Robert and Kimberly like her, too. I called Jane to see if she was still game, since we had not really discussed the trip since the weekend... I knew that she was iffy, at best. Right now, she's debating it because of some logistics with her two puppies.

So, if she calls back and everything is ok, we'll go.

She just called back, saying she wants to go, but there's no anser at her parents' house, the would-be dog-sitters. So, things are hinging on her parents now.

If she backs out, I'll re-work my game plan again.
