Nothing like a robbery to make you feel vulnerable.
After 4 days away from the office, I arrive back in this morning to discover that my office was broken into over the weekend. Thank God I had taken my laptop home!
They got a portable stereo/Cd player and my palm pilot. I'm ok with the boom box. It wasn't mine and my favorite CD wasn't in it. But the palm was personal. And expensive.
I glance at the window they came in through every once in a while and feel betrayed by its false sense of security. Someone was here, prowling through my things. The fingerprint dust that I can't seem to get clean is everywhere and reminds me of it.
