It was only time...

I knew my beloved Key West couldn't dodge so many storms but just for so long. Now, it looks like Ivan might cross it sometime late this weekend.

When I wished for an active storm season, it was more out of spite and malice toward my intracoastal waterway dwelling bastard uncle. I wanted him to fear for his livelihood, not unlike he's made me fear for mine.
I guess it's "careful what you wish for" type thing.
Yesterday, I had no plans for this weekend and then suddenly, I have two things, one Saturday and one Sunday. The one Sunday is a funeral. So, I've got to find something to wear and know that I will be around people from my former place of employment. Oh, joy. The departed is a friend's mother. She's been ready to go for three years now, with the years filled with many hospital visits in between a nursing home stay. This will not be a sad funeral, but rather, a celebration of her life and a relief to the family.
And on a sillier note, I helped my nephew's school out by buying something from his little fundraising catalog. What did I get? A balloon animal kit, complete with a hand pump, balloons, and a guide "to become a master balloonologist." Who says I have no ambition? hehehheee. Actually, it's for the Halloween Carnival at church. Renee is drowning in her responsibilities as advisor of the youth group and sent a distress call to her volunteer advisors. I answered in the form of helping with the big, annual fund raiser. Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. My plan now is to dress up in a modified clown costume and walk around the carnival making balloon animals, hats, spears, and wings for the little carpet monkeys. (Modified clown because I'm scared to death of clowns in full regalia... anything with a mask, actually. I plan to wear a silly clown costume my mother made me in 6th grade, but maybe only a bit of red lipstick on my nose.)
I picked up the unwanted things from the consignment shop yesterday. This was the shipment I took over in July that consisted of my grandmother's things. There were several things they refused on the basis of moth damage. Moth damage???? Oh well. Jane suggested I donate them to the Salvation Army.
